Red-border warning label

The mandatory red-bordered box on Schedule H1 packs.

Schedule H1 packs carry a warning box with a red border, stating that the drug is to be sold by retail on the prescription of a registered medical practitioner only, and cautioning against use without medical supervision.

It is the fastest visual check at the counter. Where a pack shows the red-bordered box, the sale needs both a valid prescription and an entry in the Schedule H1 register — not just the prescription.

It should not be confused with the ordinary Rx symbol, which appears on Schedule H packs and signals prescription-only without the additional register requirement.
