Home › Glossary › PTS (Price to Stockist)
The price a manufacturer or marketing company charges the stockist, before GST.
PTS sits one step below PTR in the supply chain. Company to stockist is PTS; stockist to retailer is PTR; retailer to patient is MRP. Like PTR, it is quoted exclusive of GST.
The stockist's margin is conventionally around 10% on PTS, against roughly 20% for the retailer on PTR. So a ₹100 MRP pack at 5% GST supports a PTR of about ₹79.37 and a PTS of about ₹72.15. Running the calculation in this direction is the usual way to check whether a proposed MRP leaves room for both margins before a product is launched at that price.
For a retail pharmacy, PTS matters mainly as a reference point. When a scheme or free-goods offer pushes your effective per-unit cost down toward the stockist's own buying price, that is the signal the offer is genuinely good rather than merely large-sounding.
